Chips and fuel economy
Hi all, After some info on getting better fuel economy out of a 7.3L donk. Is there any chips etc out there? Also i have heard horror stories of chips being the leading factor in engines blowing up and pistons re-positioning them selves quiet a distance from their intended position, any truth in these rumors? Cheers, Thinking about going banks all the way, especially the exhaust brake, one thing I noticed with the 7.3 was the poor engine braking....especially when I had my goose-neck loaded with cattle going down hill. The banks IQ system looks good too but i'm just uneducated

I wouldn't go with Banks... Don't know about the exhaust brake, but for tuning (and other parts), they are typically more expensive, and no where near as good... at least from what I have heard. YMMMV
My truck is bone stock engine wise (except for a 4" turbo back straight pipe), so I am probably not the best person to ask, but the other blokes around here can help. I know they had some good discussion here when Brian was setting up his truck: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...e-caravan.html Otherwise, ask in the 7.3 forum: 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums |
Thanks for the advice, will keep investigating, you guys are a plethora of knowledge.....
