filling seams on outside of bed

well its been a while but I finally got back in the shop today i'm wanting to fill the seams on the outside of the bead the one on the end cap is close enough that I can weld it but the one that runs the length of the bed is a pretty big gap i'm thinking about welding in a piece of rod in as a filler i'm sure someone on here has done this before any suggestion on the best way to do this would be appreciated

I wouldn't weld it. It would take a lot of time and probably warp the cr@p out of the bed sides.
There are many great seam sealers out there that would work great. But you must clean and prime the seam very well before you apply them.

Weld a piece of 3/16 cold roll in that seam and it will be great. Keep your heat on the cold roll, weld in short stitches and you won't have too much problem. It will try and warp on you if you aren't careful.

I welded it all the way top and bottom, ground any extra weld off and then a thin filler coat just to make the edges finish nice.
