Old original Texas license plates
Just learned from my County Tax Office that if I bring in a good used old set of license plates and they approve them, I can use them as current plates on my 52 truck.

Just got mine approved. Had to get them repainted

Hey, that's cool.
Do they have to be plates originally issued to that truck? In other words, could a fella say, bring his grandfather's old 1958 truck to TX from another state and then locate a set of old TX plates from another truck and use them? |
Far as I know it they just would have to be plates in pretty good condition or can be repaired and repainted.
There are unused plates on E-bay manytimes and I am bidding on a set right now for my truck. Will know more when I go to the tag office with them. Bill |
Thanks Bill.
I'm going to have to keep this in mind. Good luck and let us hear how it works out for you. |
Divermo,
Do you know if the letters on your plates were hand painted yellow? Bill |

A before shot
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...ctureid=133573 https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=255467&.jpg I took these down to the county tax office and ask if they would work. The ran a check to make sure they were good plate and no one else had that # registered. After I had them painted I took them back to the office and they registered them to my pickup. |

This is coo! Do they charge like a custom plate at the registration office?
|
Nope regular fee, just like normal tags.

Sorry about the color mix-up mine for the 52 truck are reversed colors so I can shoot it black and hand paint the letters or I will have to get my wife to since I shake too much when on medicine.
Thanks, Bill |
