New truck addons

Hi, new to this forum but have been reading for a while now. Just picked up a 2013 f250 crew cab lariat 4x4. I'm wanting to add some accessories and wanted to get y'all's opinion on this. I'm leaning towards either bushwacker pocket flares or a headache rack. Any help on this would be appreciated. It's been a while since I had a big truck and getting eager to mod it up.

IMHO, if you do the pocket flares, you will need to upgrade your wheel/tire combo. Headache racks can be good for function as well as looks. It is up to you but personally I would not do the pocket flares unless you have a larger than stock wheel/tire combo.

I agree, if you go with wheel flares get the standard style, I think Bushwhacker calls them the OEM style or you could do like me and get some OEM takeoffs and paint them to match.

Does anyone make fender flares like the pocket flares from bushwacker. I just like the rugged look they have and I guess I was just hoping they wouldn't look so bad with factory 20's. Sounds like they just won't look right no matter how much I want them to.

Ok have another question on fender flares. I found some prestige fender flares on ebay for a lot less than bushwacker and from what I've read they're suppose to be knock offs of them. My question is I have a black truck and when I was looking I wanted to find a truck that had the grey two tone paint but couldn't find one so I got a solid black one. Would these fender flares painted fords grey look good on my solid black truck?

IMO no, once you get a color theme im a big fan of sticking to that theme. of course everyone will have their own preferences, but all of the vehicles i work on and add too i find a theme and stick to it.

It would be like having some chrome accessories and some matte black. unless special attention is put forth to make sure they tie together i think one theme is best. Just my 2cents

Youd need to get some new wheels/tires with fender flares, they already are set in enough with the factory setup. A headache rack always looks good though

Yea sounds like bigger tires need to happen when I get the fender flares so the truck looks proportional. What's a good size tire that fits flush with the pocket flares and will fit on stock rims? I also plan on installing a leveling kit when I do all of this. Thanks

The cleaner- that's a good lookin truck, I like those flares.

Well now that I have the fender flares and leveling kit figured out I still need to decide on a tire size. I'm trying to decide between either 35/12.50/20, 33/12.50/20 or 295/65/20. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Don't know if u got your leveling kit yet? I went with the Bilstein kit which comes with new springs & shocks. If you go that route you have to order a trailing arm bracket as well because the kit don't come with one.

I already had 20 inch stock wheels so I went with 35/12:50/20 Toyo tires and XD Rockstar Wheels. I am very happy with the look and the ride is awesome on this Bilstein kit. I will be replacing the rear shocks soon with Bilstein as well.

I bought the Prestige flares. They have held up nicely for over a year now and yes cheaper in price than Bushwacker flares. No rusty hardware or fitment issues at all. I have a -12 offset 9" wide wheel. My setup sticks out 1.5" in the rear and 2" up front. The flares make it about perfect. I liked the look without the flares but the truck stayed dirty. I also just have stock suspension. Flares like these that stick out don't look good IMO on stock wheel/tire configuration.

Quad racer- that's a nice looking ride, it's amazing how much different adding the flares did to it. I'm definately getting some now. I just have to decide on a tire size, I think I've narrowed it down to 295/65/20 vs 35/12.50/20.

Thanks. FYI the front clips that hold your fender liner in are used for the install. A couple of mine were a real PITA. The rear flares snap right on using the existing holes in your fender.
