I would really like to make it to the meet next year too. I have some relatives in Dayton, so I could plan a trip to see them and get together with you all too.

This sounds like a fun time. I will not be pulling but would be nice to see all of it.

Hey 640, I wonder how a big block 640 would pull that hill? I don't remember anyone pulling that hill with a 460 or a FE based engine. I think a 640 would sound sweet pulling up that hill.

Yeah the Alan Root 640 CI Ford is the engine used in the first ever Monster Truck, Bigfoot #1. I would be willing to bet that it would have all four tires smoking going up that hill with 15,000 lbs.

Until it blows up. That's kind of like asking a Shelby GT500 to pull the same hill. :-hair

As long as it blows up in an entertaining way, it's all good. :-X22

I remember Chandlers Big Foot 1, the engine will be fine, might find a weaker link in the drive line....:D

I looked those up, and they weren't nearly as expensive as I expected. How feasible would those mods be to do at home?

I usually post a thread for invite/sign-ups about 3-4 months before an event. The next one will probably be May/June next year. I live a near West Holmes High School so it will be any easy drive down to The HC for you.

Also not sure what engine you have in your truck. I'm not to familiar with the 7.3 but know my way around the V10, 5.4 and I'm well versed in the rest of 1999-2004 model year trucks so if you have any questions or need any help let me know.

That would be great, I'll keep my eye out for it on here.
I have the 5.4 V8 version. I may pick your brain a little sometime. Thanks :)

Coltsbr - how does that 5.4 handle those 38's ? What gears so you have?

I'm thinking of joining in next year and meeting the guys, but not sure if I'll tow or not...

It does a fine job for me. I have had no problems. knock on wood!
I have 3.73 gears. I looked into maybe changing them but the cost did not offset the savings in fuel.

drey04 08-22-2013 07:53 AM

good deal :-X22 yeah I've got 3.73 gearing as well... but only with 35's. She drags around 10-12k no problem, but I've been thinking about re-gearing for quite a while... we shall see.

2000silverbullet 08-22-2013 09:26 AM

My 2000 w/ the V10 was a dog with the 3.73's and 37" tires. Can't imagine pulling 10k + with that combo, ugg!!!

drey04 08-22-2013 09:43 AM

yeah dragging 15-16k with my truck, with the gearing/tire/engine combo it has, may be pushing it...
