6.2 Have Enough power to pull 14 big round bales

I was wondering if a 6.2L F-350 would have enough power to pull 14 big round bales. I have a 2007 F-250 with a V-10 right now. I like the power of it but hate the gas miles.

How much do 14 round bales of hay weigh? I liked the torque my '08 V10 has compared to my '13 6.2.However the 6.2 has a better top end than the V10.

1500 to 1600 pounds apiece.

The short answer is yes. :-jammin

Now for the reasons why you probably shouldn't.:-X19

1. Legality- Even with the 4.30 diff only goes to 16.5K tow rating.(I know it's a real buzz kill, but someone was going to say it.) 14 bales at 1600lbs is over 22,000lbs not including the trailer.
2. If your trailer does not have brakes or the brakes go out, it will take a long time to stop.
3. Pulling that much too often will put undo strain on the engine/drivetrain. Engine life will be shortened.

What if u put air bags under the back wheels? That would help take some of the load off.

Ya, it could do it, but why for only 14 get a semi and trailer and haul 24-30 depending on trailer size. Could get a semi and trailer cheaper, than a pickup and get the same mpg's.

I had my 6.2 and trailer hauling rock when I added on to house - You weigh in - weigh out every time you leave the quarry. Total truck trailer/load max was 29,500 - The truck pulled it just fine.

I was sweating bullets - worried about trailer tires and axles.... I was on farm to market roads for 30 miles and not worries about police or traffic..

As for the question - it can be done - but if you are doing it on a regular basis you really should get a bigger rig - if you are just hauling them out of the field to headquarters each cutting - no problem -

I don't do it everyday. When i do haul hay ill haul about 7 loads a day until i get it all hauled.
