Just bought 2004 F250. Is this normal?

I just bought a 2004 F250 4X4 regular cab with the 5.4 Triton. It has 62,000 miles. When the truck first starts moving, I can feel a rumble coming from the front. It feels like it would if I had big knobby tires. I can also feel it when turning at parking lot speeds. The rumble is not noticeable at above 20 mph. I noticed that when I brought the truck home for the first time, one of the hubs was locked. I unlocked it but that did not make a difference. Could there have been internal damage from driving around with the one hub locked? Is this a normal occurrence for this model truck?

does your 4wd work? This feeling could be coming from a number of different factors. and no, it's not normal. Oh, do you do have larger than stock tires? Are they off road tires?

Jack the front wheels up and turn them while looking at your axle. Sometimes just because you 'unlocked' the hub does not mean it released the axle. They can stick. Mine do.

I checked the hubs and they are not sticking. The tires are BF Goodrich Rugged Trails and they are down to the last 25% of their tread. Will these tires cause a rumble?

are the tires chopped/feathered at all from bad alignment or front end parts?

The tires are normal. I let a friend drive it and he thinks it is the limited slip differential chattering. Should I change the fluid and add friction modifier?

Throw the front end on jack stands.. Grab both front wheels and give some shakes.... If either move.... Then I'm sorry.. $125 per side for new wheel hub assembly's... Replace both , trust me.. Did drivers side a year ago then heard a grumbling over the last week or so, thought it was ball joints.. Nope, jacked her up and passenger side was shaking in my hands.. Easy to replace.. Call me if you want and I'll walk ya through it.. 812-453-9397.....
