My road trip to the dragon in my '88 B2!

I just made it home from a road trip from Michigan to North Carolina and back and wanted to share some pictures. It was the truck's first big trip since all the work last year and I have to say I was very impressed with it!

I trailered the bike down to meet up with some friends. We rented a house for the week near 'The Dragon' which is known as one of the toughest roads in the Country. 318 curves in just 11 miles and the only highway I know of with banked turns and a speed limit of 15mph. We had a great time touring the mountains and I even took some time away to cruise around in the Bronco and take some pictures.

Overall the B2 operated flawlessly even pulling a trailer 1,300 miles. The little cologne V6 did have some trouble holding highway speed a few times once I got into the big mountains but that's to be expected for 140hp. My only complaint would be some steering issues that have since been mostly resolved but really presented themselves in the Dragon which was downright terrifying with loose steering and a loaded trailer.

Sounds like a good time. Is it an auto or manual tranny? Does your BII have a steering stabilizer? I picked up a rough country single shock stabilizer after replacing the power steering pump and rebuilding the steering gear box and it seemed to help out a lot. I also noticed that nobody makes a replacement rag joint for the Steering Colum coupling...anyone have any ideas?

Manual transmission, no stabilizer. Most of the problem turned out to be a badly worn radius arm bushing but it's really been a combination of all the steering components being worn out. Most of it has since been replaced but there's always 'one more thing' to do. Leaf/coil springs are still on the list to replace the originals.

I couldn't find anyone supplying the rag joint either. Checked autozone, JBG, & LMC and no go. Best bet is probably a junkyard although there's no guarantee it won't be worn out too.
