Help: 1998 150 Conversion Van - TV/Trim Lights not working
 

I have a 1998 150 Conversion Van - The switches to turn the TV/Trim Lights etc on are not working or lighting up. They are located on the ceiling between the drive and passanger seat. I thought maybe a fuse was blown but I don't know what fuses are used and the manual doesn't seem to label them.

Can anyone help me identify what to check?

Sounds like a blown fuse. There is probably an auxiliary fuse block/box installed by the converter somewhere, most likely tucked up underneath the dashboard or in the area on the driver's side up above the bake pedal/near the emergency brake. You just have to search around for it, unfortunately. If you have an overhead console (where a TV player might be, for example, in a raised roof), it might be up in there somewhere, too.

Unless you cite a specific converter its almost impossible to say where anything is located----they're not all the same---every converter had their own ideas and designs. Ford manuals won't have anything listed since such work was done after leaving the factory.

Typically you'd find something low or mid left B Pillar but that's not definite. Your converter's name and model or trim level might be helpful here but only if someone has a very similar conversion.

Agreed on a variability. I have a d'Elegant GT conversion from 2002 and I believe my auxiliary fuse block is on the left side near the B pillar...I forget if there is a screw in or a snap-out trim panel. When I bought my van (new), d'Elegant supplied a brief manual with info on their electrical, rear A/C and heat, and other features. But having owned 4 conversion vans before this, know that they were all different.

Even if your conversion company is out of business, maybe doing a Google search will provide a manual that another owner has put online out of the goodness of his/her heart. (Popular and reputable brands like Starcraft will probably be ez to find.) If your conversion is a d'Elegant per chance, repost and I'll look up more info for you and may be able to get you a pdf of the manual I have.

That name and model might get you a bit closer.

Have any photos of the left side B Pillar area, any console between the front seats or overhead storage areas etc etc? That might be a bit helpful to point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately, it's nearly impossible to diagnose something like this without seeing it. You really need to just start poking around to find the auxiliary fuse block that the converter installed. It's probably in a fairly obvious place, either under the dash on the driver's side (kind of above the brake pedal or emergency brake), in the "B" pillar (the pillar just behind the driver's side door), or possibly tucked away in any cabinetry that the converter installed.

This assumes that you already checked the stock Ford fuse block to make sure no fuses are blown there. That's where I'd start first.

I just did a quick Internet search and it looks like Eclipse is still in business (many van converters are long gone). If I were you, I'd contact them with your year and conversion model and see if they can either verbally help you or maybe provide you with an owner's manual.
