core support mounting kit help needed
I am in the process of replacing my core support on my '63 F100 unibody and I can't find the correct kit for bolting the support to the frame. I noticed in the shop manual that the unibody mounting kits have a spring which has to be tightened down to a certain height, but all of the kits I have seen don't have this spring in them. I did find variations of the part number: C1TZ-8125-S or else the suffix KT, but the pictures didn't show what I need.
I suppose I should just order some hardcopy catalogs from the different suppliers, because I spent over three hours last night trying to find the correct kit online or on their downloaded catalog. I have the hipo parts cd too and couldn't find it in there either. Guess I'm just too "old school" - I need the catalog in my hand.... So if anyone has the correct kit number or can steer me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much.... |
No one makes a kit with the springs.
If you want the springs you need the old ones or source some from mcmaster carr. Use a longer bolt on the 61 to 64 kits currently produced. Garbz |
Thank you so much for your help and information. I only wish I had posted here first last night rather than spend 3 hours looking for nothing....
BTW - do you know the reasoning why only the unibody has the spring? Thanks again. |
I believe it has to do with frame flex. With the cab/bed moving together, the core support has to be isolated to the body, not the frame, to avoid cracking between cab/bed.
