Is High Mileage Oil Better?

'99 V10 with 104K miles on it. Wondering if anyone has a factual opinion if using the oil "Formulated for high mileage engines" is worth the extra bucks? I'm kinda old school and think that the conventional 5W20 is just fine but I don't want to be accused of having my head in the sand. My baby has had oil changes every 3K since I bought her with 33K miles on her. Your thoughts?

the last 02 F250 V10 we had we ran high mileage oil at about the same mileage our current 02 F250 V10 is at (137K) and personally I don't see any difference when we use the regular oil in our current 02 V10. I personally don't think it is worth it but hopefully more will chime in and say.

I think it's a marketing gimmick.

Just donated my '05' with the 5.4 that had 240,000 mile. Oil changed @ 5,000 mile every time and used the MC 5w/20, no problems.

X2. I use mobil 1 and change every 5k. Have since new and recently completed a trip hauling a 3000# camper of 7203 miles, used 1 qt of oil in 5k miles. Truck was worked pretty hard for the entire trip in temps of 11* to 94* thru out 16 states. Couldn't be happier with engine performance.

This is pretty much what I suspected. My truck has gone 104,000 miles and only uses about half a quart between changes. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Thanks guys!

126xxx when I bought my V10, 131xxx now, I used motorcraft filter and 5w20 with no loss. I wouldn't waste the money on high mileage. Stick with motorcraft parts and it will be fine
