Help with 292 Broken Flywheel!!

Hi - I am new, well sort of, to this forum. Joined about a year ago. Anyway, my son and I are working on a 56 F100 that has a later 292 engine (possibly a 1959). Motor fell and cracked the flywheel. The clutch has the 10" disc. What flywheel can I use to replace it? Are there different balances, or will any flywheel from a 272 or 292 work? Any help is appreciated. dberg@nep.net

Sorry about your troubles. You may well want to post in the Y-Block V8 (239, 272, 292, 312, 317, 341, 368) section down towards the bottom of the forum list page. There may be those here who know but it can't hurt to ask others.

Flywheel specific to starter drive (11350), which type does 292 have? / I used 1964/72 CD catalog pic cuz it's easier to post than scanning pic in 1957/63 paper catalog with magic wand.

thanks. definitely the inertia type starter. I know the flywheel has 146 teeth on the gear.

If only the ring gear cracked, it's replaceable by itself.

B4AZ-6375-A .. Flywheel-146T Ring Gear / Use with Bendix Inertia Starter Drive / Use with 10" & 11" clutches / (6) 5/16" -18 pressure plate attaching holes on 11 3/8" & 12 3/8" bolt circles.

1954/58 239/256/272 / 1957/64 292 / GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 1 = 800-543-4959.

Nope, that would be too easy. The flywheel is cracked in half and will not be fixed. pretty obvious from the side as it looks a little crescent shaped. Too much of a hurry on my part trying to get it ready for my son and now I am in deep doo doo! Thanks for your help. If anyone has one for sale . . .

If you buy a user, how do you know you'll get the correct flywheel since there's two different types? Only B4AZ-6375-A will work with both 10 and 11 inch clutches.

T'other (B4AZ-6375-B) only used with 11" clutch. And, most ebay sellers haven't a single clue what parts fit, even if they're NOS with part numbers marked on them. :-X15

Take a look-see at post 5 again, found one NOS

Thanks. I did not know that. I will check them out in the AM. Again - thanks so much for the help.
