Progress being made (pic heavy)

Finally started back on the cab work now that the weather has gotten better.

Here is what I started with....

Not pretty! Many thought I should just scrap it and get a new cab....but I decided to press on.

Here is what I have done so far.

Still got a lot of welding to do to to finish what I have done...but I am pleased with my results so far. Didn't think I would be able to do this.

Amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it :) nice work.

Looking good, nice work.

So again, I would seem to be a totally inept schlub in comparison. Like the work, thanks for sharing.

coming along nicely! great work! What advantages do you find in using clecos over sheetmetal screws? I've always thought about buying some clecos myself, but wasn't sure they were worth it.

Indybeer 05-09-2013 08:44 PM

clecos are quick and easy to use...I have quite a few different sizes. I really like how they hold the material together as I am fitting it all together

Very nice work, impressive job on saving your cab.

Great job. Where did you get your patch panels?

Hey Indybeer,
Just incredible! That door post & sill area is a thing of beauty.
I especially like the pic of the cab floor area & your trusty welding machine & helmet is in the background - very nice.

Looking good over there in Danville!

I got all my panels at Mid Fifty....in fact it is just about the only place I buy and parts for my truck!

I think cleco pins are one of the best things I ever bought for use with sheetmetal work. Although not directly truck related below is my most recent sheetmetal project, replacing the roof on my horse trailer (and more practice before I dive into the bodywork on my F-3). Would have been nearly inpossible without the pins.

Nice work

Not for the faint of heart but nice work; will all be worth it when you finish and get that first shot of primer on it.

Keep at it!

Tom
