1961 (?) ford econoline pickup vin decoder?

EDIT found the info. S code is for mint green, but http://econolineid.com/vehicle.php?v=750 says it was a 3 speed manual, it definitely looks to originally be an automatic car, there is no clutch assembly.

Hi, can anyone help decode a vin for a vehicle I am looking to purchase? seller has it listed as a 1961, just would like to confirm. I have so far confirmed the S means 144 motor and H means Lorain Ohio, just not sure what year.

Here is the info

E10SH111062
090 S E100 A 01
03300 074 4000

what does 090 stand for?
E100 is self explanatory
A is under "transmission" so i'm guessing thats just for automatic (it is)
01 is under drive axle, what does that designate?
03300 is under gross vehicle weight lbs
074 is under "cert net HP" is that really all the HP it had?
4000 is under rpm for the hp.

You can check out to see if the vin numbers on the ownership matches the vehicle by looking at the brace where the spare tire mounts. Some vin numbers can be found on the brace above the gas filler tube. You could also find the VIN stamped into the floor on the pass side close to the rear under the doghouse. As for being changed to an auto. Anything is possible if you have the right parts. My 63 looks like it has always been an auto, yet the VIN says differently.

090 is the distance from the front hub to the center of the rear axle.

A stand for Ford 3 speed transmission. If it was a G instead, then it would be an automatic. (auto was never available until '64)

01 means it has a 7" ring gear. Also means in is intergerated axle.

as for 74 horse... maybe with high test fuel and perfect weather.. 0 to 60 mph times measured in minutes instead of seconds. Very underpowered.

I will say this, You do have 1 of the first ones made. Yours was made in November. Ford introduced then in Ocotber of 1960! Hope this all helps in your decision.... If you do decide to get it,, please post some pics. Car porn is always welcome!
