How many PSI in air shocks?

Just realized the air shocks in the rear of my '58 are sitting at 0 (ZERO) PSI. Any idea what they should have in them? I'm sure it's something I'll need to tune to my needs, but I'm looking for a starting point, or a max, if possible

What about filling them with nitrogen?

Well, a long time ago I had some that were rated up to 100 psi, Never ran much more than 50 or 60 psi. Usually the max is stamped somewhere on the body or the cover of the shock.

I'm just teasing you, nitrogen in tires is a joke, to me.

Sorry, double post.

Nitrogen in the NE is not a joke, as it dosen't freeze as fast as run of the mill air!

I've always kept a minimum of 25 lbs. in mine for a decent ride and then increase it for heavy loads.

If you can read what brand they are somewhere on the shock body you should be able to go on google and check out information about that shock.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna air them up tonight. I'm excited about the possibility of an improved ride!
