how much primer

I'm painting the cab on my 59 f 100. I am putting primer filler over epoxy. How many coats of epoxy and filler should I spray and how much should it take. it will probably be going onto bare metal. The guy at the paint store told me a quart of Nason epoxy would cover a bus. I'm not painting a flarking bus only a P.U. cab. Is a half gallon of mixed epoxy enough. I notice on the spec sheet that it says the epoxy can be used with any top coat system. Is it safe to use another brand primer and base coat/clear. has anyone used the TCP urethane?

May I suggest something Eli....
Instead of using 2 products, i.e. epoxy then filling primer why don't u look @ a product called polyester primer. I have used if for over 10 yrs w/ great results.
It is available under the names "Evercoat FeatherFill G2" "Z-Chrome" ... Sherwin Williams also offers it but i can't recall the product number. is available in gal & qts.
$65-80 gal. here in Canada this includes hardener $18-20bucks for a qt.
This product will easily fill 36 grit sander/grinder marks. and sands super easy. and NO shrinkage. reduces & cleans up w/ acetone
i reccomend a guide coat to make sure u eliminate all marks dings etc underneath.
I just usually just spray whatever scrap (non hardener) basecoat i have around right after i finish spraying the primer(saves cleaning the gun 2wice)
Only caveat is it's slow drying time 12-24 hrs depending on shop temps. before it will sand easy without clogging paper. I have used it under all different types/brands of topcoats.
Just an alternitive to look @, any more ?s lemmee know
