radiator hose temps
 

Well I am still trying to figure out this truck. The truck is a 2008 with 67k miles on it and it has been puking whenever you get on it. I figured it is probably head gaskets. The egr coolers are still on them so went ahead and ordered a sinster delete kit for that. Didn't figure that was causing my puking because it isn't blowing any white smoke out the tail pipe, but maybe they can fail somehow without burning the coolant but letting exuast in the coolant, I don't know. Maybe someone does. Anyway, drove about 60 miles today real easy like and got home and the lower radiator hose is like cold where as the upper is warm. Temps on the truck was a steady 192*. Is lower radiator hose supposed to be cold. Air temp was 35 out. Oet was 192 as well. What do you think??

Thermostats? Both hoses should be warm when they open. I don't know whick way the coolant flows in a 6.4 but thats the first thing I would check. There is a TSB about the thermostat and housing replacement

What tune / tuner were you running to blow the HG's ?

Well the gaskets were blown when I got it evidently. I am running the livewire with gearhead the tunes but never ran it hard at all. Just got the truck and got all the parts coming to fix the problem. Sinister egr delete with the high flow elbow,arp's and factory gaskets.

MAybe you should look into a wastegate system, theres no reason to have 60 lbs on tap again to wreck stuff.

60lbs?????

60 lbs of boost. The 6.4 turbocharger system can develop insane amounts of boost.

I'd set an alarm or defuel at 40 psi.

60lbs of boost, If I was running that much boost i would be looking into a wastegate system. I have never ran that much much boost. Thats why I asked what is 60lbs, took at as is I ran that much because you said "theres no reason to have 60 lbs on tap again to wreck stuff"

I don't think the big spartan tunes would defuel for anything, they seem to disable a lot of warnings.

What these things need, is a wastegate or different turbo.

I'm suprised nobody has figured out a way to utilize th EGR valve as a wastegate.
