What is going on with this block heater besides China?

Folks

I have the block heater in my 2012 6.2L. I am a real fan of engine warming. However my truck sounded like it was starving for oil on top when cold, like the heater was not working. I put a watt meter on it and sure enough, no draw.

I took it to the Ford shop and naturally they would not believe my troubleshooting techiques of using a watt meter. They had me drop the truck off, wait until the block cooled down, then plugged it on and checked the block temp with an infared thermometer. Then they came back and told me my block heater was not working (go figure). They said I had a "loose" connection from the AC line to the element. They fudged with it and it started working. Then they ordered a new element and I took the truck back in for another 1/2 day of service.

I verified the heater was working when I got home with my watt meter. I hooked the truck heater back up on my timer, and guess what?. This morning my block heater was not drawing current.

I know these harnessess and elements are made in China. They are the same elements and cables used on the 6.7D. Has anyone else had any experience with these heaters? I'd like to hear from you. Now I am probably in intermittent connection hell. When I take it back to the dealer it will work and they will think I am crazier then I am.
