75 F100 Custom Explorer 4x4 Build
Hey everyone,
Been following this site for a couple months and it convinced me that the truck I've been looking for needed to be a ford! So i started looking and sure enough craiglist came through for me. Picked up the truck two weeks ago and drove it 3 hours home, have been working on it every chance i get. Dont have any pictures yet i can put on but ill try and get some up tmrw... The truck is the explorer package so its a dark orange/bronze with the yellow stripes. Think its called saddle bronze metallic?? Was told it was a 390, but the vin says its a 360. Just rebuilt the motorcraft 2150, having some problems when i step on the pedal hard, might be running rich still. Waiting for a new choke and float. It has the 4sp manual and the 205. Truck came on 35s...which are way to big for the 3.50 gears, but im swapping em out for some 31s tmrw. Just cut out some of the spots in the floor boards and welded in some new metal today. gonna slap on some bedliner on it soon. Done quite a bit to the rest of the interior as well. Gonna see if i can get it running better in the next couple days, might be hollerin at you guys for help! Oh yeah my names Derek! Thanks alot! |
Lookin forward to some pics. Sounds like a great project.

Well worked til dark today so when I got home I couldnt get any current pics. Managed to weld up the floor boards the rest of the way and swap out the 35s for some 31s my bother had on his Gladiator. Painted up the sun visors, and im trying to get the dash out right now.

Picture makes the truck look to good, The rear fenders and rear cab corners are rusted out. Ill be fixing that within the month i hope... and the paint is all cracked...and there are many dents...and a huge section of bondo on the hood that is cracking :( Anyone know what the paint code is?

Take some really good detail pics of those strips. They are not reproduced, but if you have good reference you can have them made by a vinyl shop or have them painted on if you plan on keeping the paint original. Hard to tell from the pics, but post or take a pic of your VIN tag on the door. Truck looks like a good one to fix up.

Thanks, Worked even later today so still no pics. Wont be at the house tmrw, but this weekend ill be sure to post alot of pics. Removed the dash pad today, took alot longer than i thought it was going to! Plain on painting it black to match the rest of the interior. Things in great shape, not a scratch or crack on it, ill take a pic of it and pop it on here tonight.
