Need help on exceleration

I have a 1991 f150, 5.0l 2 wheel drive. At different times the engine will start to rev up. Stomping down on the gas pedal does nothing. Can anyone help. Thank you.

Need more info.
What trans?
When does the engine rev.. in park? while driving?

I bought the truck used and have no info on the trans. Sometime it revs as soon as I start it and other times in park. This morning I started it to go to work and as soon as I released the key it reved. I pounced on the gas pedal several times and could not get it to stop.

I have completed some tasks to try to correct the truck with high excelleration and stalling.
I have replaced the EGR, Idle Air Control Valve, had the timing checked and replaced some vacuum hoses. The vehicle still has high rpm's and still stalls.
Can anyone help with this?
Thank you

You need to pull the codes, it's not hard and can be done with no special tools but a cheap code reader like the Equus 3145 will eliminate errors.
To pull codes without the reader follow the link.. http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=13

Thank you Conanski,

I will order the code reader and give it a try.

Thanks again for the response,
Harley
