79 f250 4x4

i found a 79 f250 4x4 with a 4spd inline 6 for $1500. minimal rust. seat has built-in head rest. so i am guessing the seat is not original? i havent looked at it yet, but plan on a test drive in the next day or so. from what i can read online, the 6 is a great motor, but just not a speed demon. is this as good of a deal as i think it is? that is all the info i have right now. thanks for the input.

also, if you could give me some tips or pointers to look for when i do take a look at it, it would be appreciated.

edit: it has a bull bar or push bar on the front. was this option available in 79? it is black with 2 horizontal round tubes.

Not bad price for a 4x4 F250, yea 6 cly is dependable and torquey, just not much in the way of top end.

Seat sounds like a swap in, does it have a fold out arm rest by chance?

Insp the front cab mounts for rust and ck the steering box for excessive play. Make sure the transfer case/4x4 works also.

If it is stock and no lift and big tires it should be in good shape mechanical shape.

Oh yea forgot to mention the push bar is worth $$$$

The factory push bars an easy $300 on ebay (don't tell the seller ;)), a running and functioning 4x4 with minimal rust is almost always worth at least $1,500 in my book.

new info:

i still have not actually seen the truck, in person, because the guy is slow to email me back, but i did notice in the picture that the bed doesnt match the truck. the bed is from a 73-75 model as it has trim all the way across the bottom. i think the bed was the same from 73-79, just different trim options from year to year. here is a link:

That looks to be worth it, the push bar is not OEM but still they are hard to find.

The bed is a swap on from a 73 to 76 cause it has the exposed gas cap and not a 77-79 gas flap.

You can pull the front fender and cab "dent" chrome strip and the botton chrome off the bed and do a little body work to get it to match up.

Or add the chrome to the bed "dent" and add it to the botton of the fender and cab??
