2004 F350 Dually 4x4 quad with 6.0 "tuner Question"

I posted this in the Super duty forum also, but was told this might be a better place for it.

Ok, this is my company truck, not really a lot of information for it, but here goes. Back in 2008, I guess, It had a chip and tuner purchased/installed. The Tuner is an SCT, says SF strategay flash device. Also installed was a quadzilla device for monitoring temps and such. Anyway, the PO set the tune for better mileage he said and was getting 18-20 Highway. Then he had to replace 2 injectors and the mechanic said the tune was to blame so the PO said it was returned to stock. Ran it like that for a couple years. I borrowed the truck to pull a camper for 2000 miles and on the return trip home, almost back, started having engine issues. Got it back home and in to a shop, long story short, number 5 cylinder was toast from a rocker getting wedged and was told to replace the engine, 137000 total miles.,cough, cough, ouch decided to have a used engine installed, $7800 later truck runs great. On to the problem/question. I have this tuner and do not know whether to change the tune for better mileage etc, or just sell the thing and move on. I get about 12 MPG which is not that great. It runs great so I'm thinking don't mess with the tune, opinions???? Is there a way to check so I know it is in fact back to stock? Where does this "chip" get installed? (would that have gone with the old engine? I have no clue here, all I know is that I have this tuner that he paid like $400 for, so if I can sell the thing for $150, I would be happy with that.
THanks for the input.

did you keep the old engine? Atleast this will give you a bump.

No, the old engine was core only.

Well i will just give you my two cents. Keep the tuner and have some custom tunes written from innovative or gearhead. The injectors fromwhat i read go bad due to lack of fuel pressure, failing ficm, poor lubrication in the fuel ( no additive cetane and such). I dont know what it means to have a rocker wedge but they do gernade sometimes. But thats my opinion

The tune reprograms the PCM. Did you replace the PCM? Or did you keep the one that was in the truck? You can try to return to stock then program a custom tune. I know with mine you have to always return to stock first.

Did not replace the PCM. Also wish I had more infor on what tunes are on the handheld. I guess I will know more once I hook it up. Are there specific instructions somewhere on how to do this? Like I said the PO did not keep anything and no "recollection", lol

You can go to the SCT web site. They have user manuals there. You plug it into the OBD2 port and make the changes then unplug it. It does not need to stay plugged in. Just don't unplug it while it is programming. The PCM holds the program. You should have 3 custom tunes. Maybe, a econo tune, tow tune, and a street tune. It depends on what the PO had put on it. The process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. I hope this helps, good luck.
