Carburater enrichment valve question
 

Hey guys,

I have an engine out of a 1975 ford maverick. Its a 302 and came with a two barrel carb. I went to rebuild the carb and bought a kit form the local auto parts store. I figured everything out except for the enrichment valve. I was confused when i went to swap it because the one that came in the kit was an 1/8 inch shorter than the one that came out of the carburater. It also looked slightly different. I put it in and assembled everything and am wondering if it will make a difference. I have a picture for reference but I cant figure out how to attach it. Anyone have any ideas?

The only thing I can contribute here is to tell you the valve you are speaking of is called the "power valve". That term may help you if you are doing internet searches on the subject to get more info.

Enrichment valve is another word for power valve. As long as the valve threaded correctly and was able to seat, and this was indeed the correct rebuild kit, it should be fine. Many parts look different between kits - this goes for needles, seats, and many other items. If it runs correctly at open throttle, then there is no need to worry about it.

You omitted: Canadian resident / 1975 Maverick/Comet 302/C4 Canada only:

D5DZ-9A565-A .. Fuel Enrichment (Power) Valve ~ Marked with daub of brown paint (Motorcraft CE-122).

If you aren't aware of where the car was sold new, there are SEVEN different 49 state power valves (same used in: 1975 Granada/Monarch/Mustang II 302/C4, excludes Califonia).

These valves are marked w/a daub of paint, so if concerned, look at the original, see what color it is.

Here's How to Post Pictures:

You can add up to 30 Images in one FTE Post.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.
