Good idea! If I did that at my house I would have half neighborhood calling the constable or worse, the city building inspectors. I have had them call Air Quality Control and the Fire Department twice. AQC came out and found nothing as I had already put the spray equipment away and the Fire Marshall tried to make my life hell. The Fire Department came the last time two years ago with lights on (no siren) and ended up laughing about the idiot neighbor who couldn't mind his own business.
Good luck with your firetruck build! And may you have great neighbors...

JimG1098 12-12-2012 07:00 AM

Topmoo,

Thanks, I do have great neighbors. They like to ogle sometimes when I am working. The lift set up was preety befee, two 2 x 10's, 16ft.
I first time I put all the scafolding up to support the end.
The subsequent times, I just extend the beam out the support I built in the window. The cab, I found out only weighs 300#. I like the system because its there when I need it, hidden when I dont. A nice chain block completed the deal.

Jim

Jim,
Very cool! This is already shaping up to be a great thread. I'm glad you got the pic thing figured out. I know we all love to see pics.

I agree about the neighbors. Its good to have good neighbors. Mine are pretty tolerant and we all get along well.
Bobby

Looks great Jim. I don't know what you are talking about when you said your truck won't be as nice as mine. I beg to differ!! Its really coming along and I like the history on the truck. Any luck trying to contact the former department to see if they have any more photos or history?

Keep the pictures coming!!:):):)

JimG1098 12-12-2012 07:52 PM

Yes Keith, I did make a contact in the Fl town, It has been renamed. There were not any of the old members any longer arround. I may re-visit the issue one day when I get caught up.

The truck is totaly media blasted and I just started the actual body work.
