Eco Turbo Going Out?

Anyone know how long these turbo's are supposed to last? My right one is making some hellacious sounds on spool up. Most noticeable when you start the truck and let it idle, x seconds you can hear the turbos spool up. Also when accelerating heavily or under load. 78k mi

I don't know how long on an EB but Ford has never had much good luck with turbos. That dates back to the 80s mustangs. That is one of the complaints with the 6.0L diesels.
This is what I have been waiting to see is just how well the turbos hold up.
Sorry to hear yours maybe going out not a cheap fix I'm sure

How many failed turbo issues have you actually heard of? Older Ford gas turbo engines had issues but I've never read too much about actual turbo failure.

The oil and the turbos on the 3.5L are water cooled for more protection. There's no doubt that a bad one will appear but this doesn't make the entire Ecoboost program a failure.

Anyway, I trust it's a minor issue. 78K in a short time is a pretty awesome workout. :-X22 Keep us posted if you don't mind sir.

262K miles on my 7.3L turbo. But kinda compairing apples to oranges there.

The Garret GT15 has been used on multiple small gas and diesel engines for many years now. A little google searching shows few results in the regards of them failing. Mostly from being pushed too far in modified engines.

Not to say it wont fail, things happen. Keep us informed.
