1955 F100 Help / Advise

Has anyone used the following configuration? Toyota PS Gear Box, Stock Brake Pedal and Ididit column Sift?

Here is the issue, nothing works - LOL

1) Can't really figure out a way to secure the column to the floor. I puchased the 2.25 floor / firewall mount however, there is not much column that sticks through the floor, so not much to grab onto without hitting the part where the shifter moves. I have it installed, but had to modify to make work. Thought about mounting on top of the floor, but then I have to use the one with the boot.

2) Lokar Shift Linkage kit and the ididit shifter bracket at the bottom of the column hit the freaking brake pedal. I purchesd the 1/2 moon adapter that fits to the bottom of the column(the catch phrase is no more hitting the brake pedal), however, it also hits the brake pedal as well. My brake pedal leanes to the right (if sitting in the cab) I guess that's the way they all are.

Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

A couple of thoughts; The lower column mount it supposed to be used above the floor and covered with carpeting or some other trimming to hide it. Some are easier to hide than others, and still other mounts are pretty enough to be displayed.

If your pedal leans, perhaps the bushings on the pedal pivot are worn and should be replaced.

Thanks for the info, I will double check the pedal, but If I recall, the pedal seems to be bent down low close to the bushing. I will take a closer look. As far as the column mount, I'm going to purchase the one with the boot and chrome ring that matches my carpet and mount on the top, that will solve that problem. Now I just need to figure out my shift linkage issue.

thanks Wayne for the help

I am having the same problem on my 55. The coupling to the p/s box does not leave a lot of room to move the ididit up or down. my brake arm also hits the shifter. thought of rotating shift lever 90 degrees but have not gotten that far yet.

Yesterday we made a shift linkage that would work and is working, clears everything. The only issue I have with that mocked up linkage is strength. I'm not sure long term it will be a good solution however I'm working on a stronger version. I can send you pics of mine early in the week if you like. Send me a PM or email me at david@rustedgoldclassics.com and I will send you pics of what I have fabricated thus far.

Are you talking about the DD u-joint that is between the gear box and the column? there should be plenty of room to move the column up and down, you can only go down so far but there is at least a 1/2 inch or more that you can come up, then tighten down the set screws and your good to go.
