2013 6.2s...transfer case and front diff

Anyone know if you still get the super 60 10" front with the 4.30 axle option?

With NV/Magna gone, has the transfer case changed to Borg-Warner, as with Dodge (Ram)?

For the '11's and '12's, it's super 60 regardless of gear ratio. Ford fleet links below. Pretty sure that hasn't changed for 2013, but I don't know 100%, no doc yet.

Not sure about the transfer case question but I'll take a look around tomorrow and see if I can dig up anything.

Further research shows Magna still here, NV gone.

Apparently the 2011+ case is a de-ribbed and narrowed 271:

NV271:

Does this mean the case is weaker with a narrower chain?

Case looks better than the older one. Magna bought nv so all their designs are based on the old new venture, or updates of them. If you look its looks like some of the ribs were replaced with a solid chunk of metal. Ford still uses the strongest transfer case out of all the big 3. They speced it to handle some insane amount of power IIRC.

Not too sure about all that. This is how it was explained to me: At first, Magna wanted to buy NV from Daimler, who was basically stuck with it when they got rid of Chrysler. Daimler wanted too much for NV, so Magna decided they would design their own transfer cases for the domestic full size truck market. Magna won a very large contract from GM to supply all the cases for their 2007-up full size trucks. All of a sudden, NV wasn't worth so much because they lost 2/3 of their business when they lost GM. Magna went back to Daimler and got NV for a lot less. At this point it looks like the Magna cases in GM trucks are new Magna designs, but the cases in Dodge trucks are updated NV designs built by Magna. The Magna 1226/1626 used behind the Duramax is a VERY strong unit, and it isn't related to any of the NV cases. Ford is all BW now, aren't they?

New Venture Gear is now a division of Magna Powertrain.

Magna is also making a heavy duty front drive axle for the Ram HD's now.
