Cummins in Ford

I own a 99 ram with the cummins, tranny rebuilt once at 65k, truck now has 89k. When I was at Cummins Power Systems buying a fuel filter, the man at the counter said that Ford was putting the cummins in their 2005 model pickups. Has anybody heard this???? Looking into purchasing another Ford one day but would like to have the cummins motor

This isn't true. You can get a conversion kit to install a Cummins in a Ford pickup, but Ford isn't offering it as a factory option. If you want the 5.9 Cummins in a Ford you'll have to buy an F650 or F750, and at that point I'd get the Cat diesel.

No. I'm saying that there are aftermarket conversion kits available to put a Cummins in a Ford. I don't think Ford sells trucks without engines.

I just went to Ford's commercial website and there are no 5.9 Cummins options for anything smaller than F-650.

I thought they were offering them in the "fleet" line, but that's been a couple months since I checked the website tho.....

At this point I think the 5.9 theyre using is a medium duty, not the kind theyre sticking in the Dodge trucks right now, not exactly the kind of motor you would really want for a regular pu I think. Besides, its like this guy says, the cat diesel is the way to go, the only problem is it kind of sucks to buy all the stuff to make the vehicle a 4x4 afterwards.

yes there is only 1 5.9 Cummins diesel. The one they put in the Ford trucks are the same one the put in the dodge trucks. You can get a quiet 305hp F-650 now I thought that was kinda funny sense Ford and Dodge keep figthing for the higher HP diesel and if you buy Ford you can get both. It would make a great comparison. same truck same load different engine.

Check out the Ford F100 from the Ford-argentina web site. They sell in Argentina, an F100 pickup that looks exactly like an F250, and they DO, in fact, put a 5.9L Cummings in the truck!

The Cummins they're using in the F650 and F750 is the same engine that is used in the Dodge pickups, but it is tuned differently. There are 5 different "tunings" of this engine available:

185 HP @2400 RPM 420 lb/ft @1600 RPM
215 HP @2300 RPM 520 lb/ft @1600 RPM
230 HP @2300 RPM 520 lb/ft @1600 RPM
245 HP @2300 RPM 660 lb/ft @1600 RPM
260 HP @2300 RPM 660 lb/ft @2500 RPM

cummins in 93 F250

Is there any easy way to put a Cummins diesel in a 93 F250 to replace the current Navistar engine?

He used the search and responded to a thread even if it's slightly long in the tooth. I'm giving rep points to him. How times have we seen the same old ?'s asked over and over again.
