It's been a good run

If all goes well and should I will be leaving the V-10 group and going over to the 6.2 crowd with a new '12 F250 CC 4X4. Pretty much the same as I have now in the '05 Lariat. We made it to a grand total of 427,450 miles today. It has been and still is a great truck. We're changing because of the way depreciation and taxes work. Anyway I hope the 6.2 follows in it's big brothers foot steps. Truck is going to stay in the family just not working so hard. Thanks:)

Congrats on the new truck, on the '05 miles, and on keeping it in the family. :-drink

05v10,

Congrats on the mileage milestone!!!!!!!

I would ask one favor of you (like I asked before). Please post a pic of your speedometer. I've used your example in the past concerning the mileage V10's can obtain if properly maintained. The last pic I have from you is at 375K I believe.

Thanks in advance.

How many of those miles were towing?

It is amazing how many people think a gas engine won't go that far. People doubt me when I tell them my dad's 2000 F350 V10 has over 350,000 miles on it, about 1/2 of that towing (it's his repo truck). One spit spark plug and regular oil changes, nothing more.

Of course, he also had a 1984 Bronco II with over 450,000 miles on it. Changed the timing set once and the transmission bearings a few times. That too was about 1/2 towing repos. It was still running fine, but was due for transmission bearings again and the body was finally rusting out.

Good luck with the new truck. Eventually, we will all be done with the V10's in the 3/4 and 1 ton anyway.
Some sooner than others though. My 2010 6.8 has less than 10k miles.

400,000

The pic says it all. Going for 500,000. By the time I posted the pic i'm at 401,200. Getting new plugs, oil change and tire rotation tomorrow. :)

Here is the one from a while back at 400,000. I'll try to get a new pic in the next few days. My usage is somewhere between 75 to 80 percent driving and 20 to 25 percent towing. Did a trip this week of 600 miles with about 6400lbs in the bed and trailer. It still runs good but did notice the summer heat seemed to be harder on her this year than before. Once it cooled off to fall temps she seems as good as new. This has been one of the most heat sensitive vehicles I've ever owned. It loves cool air.

That's impressive for a gasser. The 6.2 should treat you good, I drove one not long ago and was impressed with the way it felt and the 6 speed trans certainly doesn't hurt at all either.

Awesome! My 2000v10 has 49,000mi. on it and I intend on keeping it for a few hundred thousand more! I used a lot of info from this forum when shopping for truck and initially was set on a diesel.Seeing your post with the mileage that you have definitely eased a lot of the concerns I had regarding fuelly v. diesel longevity. Thanks for posting and good luck with the new ride.

Hope the 6.2 keeps ya happy!! Makes me glad I bought a 3v!

Congrats on new truck and man this gives me high hopes since I only have 160000 miles on my 2000 v10.

bakon 11-05-2012 03:35 AM

88k on my 2003. Got some exhaust issues currently but want to do 10 more years with it. Good luck with the new one.

pappy19 11-05-2012 02:51 PM

Did the transmission ever give you any problems? I have 115,xxx on my '08 and change the tranny fluid every 50k plus I added an external spin-on filter that I change every 25k.

Ha! That's crazy. If I had that many miles on my truck I'd be driving just a rolling chassis with no body left on it!! Proper maintenance and most anything should last..... Good luck with the new truck I'm sure it wont disappoint!
