The New 2014 Transit Van looks very good to me. Still think the '08 & up E-Series nose "is Ugly".

I agree with you on the '08 E Series, to they look like they were in a wreck with the black nose. The chrome nose looks a lot better. The 2014 is TOTALLY FUGLY!!! They should have just put the '58 Edsel grille on it and finished it off!!

this van not strong like econoline also tall van will be problem for business cuz they cant put damn ladder on top of racks cuz it too talls i have Econoline with rack to put 14 ft boat on top to go canada for fishing but now transit cant put boat on top have to use trailer but big problem is 200 mile gravel road lots rocks will hit on boat and trailer make paint off and dent! 2008 econoline look better than 2014..

Presumably FORD will offer Transit in 3 different heights which should be NO "problem for business cuz they cant" get anything but than the standard height in E-Series, unless they go to the aftermarket, cut away the original steel roof & graft on a plastic roof.

Better wait & check out the specs for the new Transit before deciding how "strong" it is.

Is this rear wheel drive? or front wheel drive?

All US transit vans (not transit connects) will be RWD. They will optionally have the (quite powerful) ecoboost v6 as an engine. Ford press releases hint at a diesel option, with no specifics at this time.

They have not revealed any information about towing capacity. They are also still selling the E-Series as a cutaway van, because the transit is apparently incapable of filling that role at this time.

I am blinded by the ugliness....

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh MUCH better :D

I don't mind that it's ugly, but it looks enormous. Even a "low top" version probably wont fit in my garage.

that why i dont like transit! my garage door design 7 foot height doors

Tom 10-31-2012 10:48 PM

Why is there all this assumption that there won't be a low-roof version? Parking garages everywhere are typically 7' height. I have a tough time believing that they won't make a Transit model that will fit in a parking garage. Even a 4x4 F350 is under 7' high!

Super Econoline 10-31-2012 10:57 PM

my econoline can go ramp parking in building cuz ramp requre 7 foot or less if over 7 foot have to park outside and long walk... ford should keep make econoline not transit!

Club Wagon 10-31-2012 11:41 PM

Ford Truck Enthusiasts would do well to read FORD Press Releases on the US 2014 FORD Transit. FORD has specifically stated that there will "be a low-roof version". FORD describes the Transit in this thread's photo as Medium height roof. We should be able to confidently make the "assumption that there" will also be a High Roof Version. This is in addition to previous FORD Press Releases that mention 3 different wheel bases.

Naysayer's complaints about roof height are Red Herring.

Another FORD Press Release stated that the standard motor will be a gas V6, options include EcoBoost V6 & unidentified high efficiency diesel.

FORD Transit full size vans are racking up an impressive list of awards.

Note: The photo may be suspect. Possible PhotoShop/composite or taken w/short telephoto lens, either way making guy w/pad look shorter & van look taller?

Note: FORD Press Release also says new Transit will "start selling in" 2013. Not "in 2014" as Super Econoline posted.

Note: FORD also announced they'll show the new Transit at N. American Int'l. Auto Show January 2013.

CheesyRider 11-01-2012 07:37 AM

Those optimistic that the low top version will be under 7' might end up being right. I looked up the specs on the current European Transit and the rear wheel drive low top version is about 6'10" tall. The current European Transit definitely looks taller than it is, so hopefully the new one that we'll have in North America will be the same.
