Thinking about getting rid of my 2008 F350 HD and buying a Raptor

Hey guys,
I've recently found that I'm not towing anything heavy with my 2008 F350 Harley and the Diesel prices are killing me! I'm spending at least $500/month on fuel.

I'm now thinking of selling it and getting into a 2010+ F150 Raptor or Harley Davidson. F150 HD's are about $10k cheaper than the Raptors here. I don't know much about the Raptors so I thought I would ask you guys.

Which engine should I go for the 5.4 or the 6.2? How are they on Gas? I'm currently driving around in a 2012 F150 loaner since my truck is in for service and the F150 seems to get pretty good gas mileage. So anyways, would the Raptor be a better choice than a HD F150? Would it be a downgrade to go to an F150 after having an F350? Please help me out
Thanks

My choice would be Raptor

Having been a huge fan of Super Duties, having owned 6 I never considered a F150 kind of considered them as a matchbox truck, however test drove a 2012 Raptor while they were changing the oil in my 2011 F250 and WOW what a truck. Was in my driveway two days later.

Very impressive truck, if you need large bed space probably not for you, unless the bed extender would work.

Big difference between the Raptor and all others is the limited production, don't see many pull up to a red light and you will see 2/3 Superduties and other F150's and no other Raptor. Pull into a service station and you will have folks drooling and wondering what "is a Raptor."

Don't purchase if fuel economy is your goal, 6.2L 411HP engine is a drinking machine...14 MPG around town. Your probably not getting much better than that now and with the price point of gas verse diesel you will save some cash...

All in all Raptor gets my vote.

Thanks for your response. I've been looking at local used raptors and 2010's are $40-45k for anything with low miles. My local dealer has a 2010 F150 Harley with 30k km on it, which is under 20k miles, they are asking $39k for it. I also started looking on craigslist and found a few local Toyota Tundra's. There's a fully loaded 2011 Platinum Edition with 10,000km on it, which is virtually a brand new truck, they are asking $41k. That makes my decision even harder. I think my F350 is worth about $35k tops on a trade in, and I didn't really wanna spend more than $5k to get into a different truck. I'd be spending $10k to get into a Raptor, plus not save any money on fuel. And I also couldn't pick a 2010 F150 over a 2011 Tundra if I were to spend an extra $5k.... decisions decisions

GO with a Raptor and do the 6.2. I love mine to death. I do have some heavy hauling and have a 2012 superduty for that with the diesel.

Either way with what you do the Raptor will do fine. It also rides like a cadillac

The toyotas are garbage with their 3 section riveted frame

The harley and the raptor will be better trucks. But just remember the raptor has a 6000lbs tow limit where as the harley i believe is approx 10 (correct me if i am wrong) so that could make the difference for you

here is a video that i saw a few years ago and i believe that toyota has not changed much in the frame
and it is a little ford biased but just watch what the bed on the toyota does, i have never seen anything like it before

Had 99' F-250 7.3 CC 4X4, wife 02' 4X4 7.3 Xcursion. 99' totaled. Got 12' Raptor. I can EEEK 14MPG out of it and I mean I baby this thing. Remember it is 93 octane...........not cheap. You can use 87, but why get the Raptor then? I see the Raptor as a hot rod that looks like a truck, personally. The bed is 5.5' long. It is only my opinion, but I own it. I got it because I want a niche vehicle, like the way it looks, and like the motor and cockpit. Don't get me wrong, but the Super Duty is a TRUCK in my opinion and the power it produces for the money is still impressive. The Raptor has great seats, but it is hard to see out of. Over time, the parts for it will be expensive. Fox shocks, probably around $6-800, are not covered under 3/36. I will be keeping my hot rod, but in my opinion it is not a TRUCK like our 7.3's were.

The 6.2 in the Raptor makes 411 hp on premium, 401 on 87 (with no effect on fuel economy). Not worth the extra cost for me. I have no plans for my Raptor to ever see premium.

Actually in the area where I live there are at least 3 raptors. I live in the city where Dell computers started so (BMW, Porsche,Raptor,Audi,BMW, Ferrari,Lamborgini...) haha. But anyways, saw 3 of them in one day and have seen a couple lightnings too
