6.0l ficm

first off i will start by saying thanks to everybody on this site for all the good info. anyway, on with my question, is it better to get a new ficm or get mine rebuilt? what are the pros and cons of both? also where is the best place to buy or rebuild? what are the chances of the ficm going bad but still looking good on a voltmeter test? never dropped below 48 volts. my truck runs rough with a long crank time and lack of power. short crank time when the engines cold, 30 degrees or colder overnight, and it fires right up. sometimes when the engines warm it wont start til the forth or fifth try. also it sounds louder than before it started running funny. the truck is a 2004 f250 CC lariat 6.0 with 172xxx miles, dont know if it has any mods bought it as is. ive had the truck for 2.5 years and 35000 miles now, ran great until a couple weeks ago. since then ive changed oil and filter, fuel filter, cleaned egr valve, replaced turbo outlet hose, and finally put in the blue spring. i have always used motorcraft oil and filters. any help greatly appreciated. sorry for the long post. almost forgot, no codes. thanks

your problem sounds like a HPO Leak/Problem

Not a FICM Problem

Internal leak. Do a search for HPOP Air Test.

It would help, but there are better options in my opinion.

AE is likely the best for a consumer, but needs a laptop. I feel DashBoss for iphone/ipad is a far better option than ScanGauge.

Take for instance the HPOP pressure. You can read the HPOP pressure from the PCM, similar to SG2.

But DashBoss can also take the reading off the ICP sensor. SG2 cannot do that.

So you have ICP pcm, ICP calc, ICP volts and IPR % all with DashBoss.

Torque is available for Droid devices if you don't have an Apple product.

I am pretty biased though. I really like Dashboss, have met the owner personally and I am now active in the Beta testing program.

The SG2 will always look like a 1980s Pocket Calculator to me. Not too mention all the frivilous programming it needs to operate.

The DashBoss is only really an option if you have an Apple product; iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
