oil recommendation for y-block

I was wondering what oil I should use in a 292 Y-block. I thought Rotella was the suggested oil on a previous post but I may be wrong.

If your engine still has the stock unhardened valve seats, the idea is to use an oil with as high a level of ZDDP,which has been decreasing, to lubricate the valves. Google it, you'll get no end of articles.

If you have hardened valve seats, just use a good quality oil.

Thanks. I'll try that.

The high ZDDP will lubricate the cam and lifters, benefiting that area. Really don't think oil should be in the area of the valve seats. I am running Brad Penn.

Joe Gibbs racing oil. It is expensive but so are engine rebuilds. Amazon . com

About 10 bucks a quart.

Duh, I am confusing two separate issues. Tim Mcmaster did recommend I use Brad penn oil when he built my current Y,which I do use but have to special order it. I was worried about using a lead substitute for the valves, but he installed heads with the hardened seats, so it's a non-issue now. I was ready to install the NOS oiler kit I had bought, which he said is not necessary with modern detergent oils and the common mod used to correct poor oiling problems.Sorry about the bad info, I'm easily confused.
