Perhaps it part of the 10 day wait????? Any how 2000 ford ranger xl 2wd bed bobbed 1'-21/2" front fender openings raised 3" windshield frame from tj wrangler rollbar from yj wrangler safari top from tj wrangler modified window surrounds from tj wrangler modified removable window frames from tj wrangler windjammer from tj wrangler 8.8 with 4.10 swapped in roll in bed liner tire carrier from yj wrangler The upholster will get to my top in a couple of weeks. I'll try posting pics then. |

It's......................interesting
|
Interesting, keep us updated.

would look better without the plastic box in back. Seems you could get some of the flat metal boxes such as used in the back of jeep products and use them instead.
|
Wow a Ranger Convertible!!! I like it. I have looked at a lot of customs and they are usually the same old thing. slam 'em and put a tonneau cover on the back and maybe a two tone paint job. I will be interested when you get it completed. How much time did it take you?

Like/hate, but it is different.
There are 200 man hours in this ranger. A lot of that was just figuring out what I wanted to do. I'm sure This could be done much faster on another one. I am the original owner of this ranger. I drove it to work for years until I rolled it on black ice. The ranger sit in my barn for 7 years. Well with this economy I've had some time off. The ranger is built to take me to construction sites. Normally 100 mile round trip daily. I need the ugly black box. I didn't want to lower it. Most job sites are poorly maintained. I did put Michelin tires on because I've had very good luck with them on other trucks. The only thing that isn't finished is the top. Still waiting for the upholsterer to call. |
Nice truck! It reminds me of an International Scout.
|
interesting choice of mods i personally would put on some of the widest cooper cobra's you could find on the back to give her a more hot rod stance possibly find a nice back bumper along with a nice shiny front one too and i would continue with the cage assembly you already have in place and create a roll bar /cage look possibly a couple KC daylighter's up top, and eventually dual your exhaust out as either side pipes a.k.a. lakers or exit behind rear tires.....hide the spare tire and possibly look in to getting an aluminum tool box instead of plastic but this is just what i wold do i am not saying you should or would have to but i think it would make this an awesome new concept roadster
|
Understand the black box now. Post pics when you get the rest of the surround done. I bet it is pretty breezy right now.
|
Reminds me a bit of the old International 4WD and the first Broncos.
|
Smoken Choken
I painted front and back bumpers flat black. Took out the black box and put in a diamond plate one I have. Mounted the spare tire mount to the floor. Camera batteries dead. Will post soon. Thanks. |
i bet she looks pretty sweet with those touch ups i can't wait to see it
|
|
I like what your doing with it :-X22
|
looking good man, looking good, keep up with the progress she looks pretty cool to me
|
kind of cool (no pun intended)
didn't dodge do this to their little toy truck years ago? i remember seeing a couple but really didn't work in the northern half of country. ken |
Obviously way better than wrecked and sitting in the barn. Was wondering why you left the frame rails sticking out the back? Maybe want to cut them down and put on a roll pan instead of bumper? If you need to tow, maybe custom fab a hidden hitch? Not sure what time/skills/tools you have but looks like you must be pretty good with cutting and welding since the rest of it looks so well done. Just my .02, feel free to take or leave.

Nice job on the Ranger, reminds me of the old Dakota verts in a way. I'm diggin' the bobbed rear end. It's one of a kind
|
i like it :)
|
I think it`s sweet. I love custom jobs like this. Personally, I think the boxiness of the top would look better on an older ranger, but it`s still good on this one. Also, working with what you have is always a plus.

chopped top Ranger
Looks great, love the concept. how much does it weigh now with all that metal removed? I have a 93 ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 and a 5 speed. Also have an 2004 Ranger 4x4- 4.0 auto. I have over 400,000 on the 93 ranger. I still drive it every day. The 04 just get out on trips and Sundays. The 93 has after market heads ported, high energy Comp cam, shorty headers and 3" pipe all the way back to the muffler, then duel exhaust after the muffler. I had # 40 flow master muffler but couldn't stand the noise for every day driving so put a quieter one on. I also have a 1971 F100 street rod. 468cu.in engine and a 4 speed auto. We have had it for the past 25 yrs or more. It never see's winter driving. just rod runs now. Done to many things to it to type. when I can figure this page out I will post some picks.

Have you gotten the top done yet?
Hi,
I am just checking in. Wondering if you have finished the top yet? Would be interested in pictures. I think it looks really nice just the way it is. Love it Ruralcitygirl.:-X06 |
Still working on the top.
I had the parts fitting well. I took it to an upholster who charged a lot.... I'm now trying to fix it :-arrgh I have pics in my album Can't figure out how to post them here (today) |

The snaps fixed all the problems. Normally the cab will be inclosed. The windows can be zipped open or the frames can be totally removed just by pulling up on the frames. The windjammer can be removed quickly from the snaps and velcro holding it leaving only the windjammer in place. I did add some KC highliters, just for fun. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=252057&.jpg |
in the side view it kinda makes me think it looks like a mazda miata pickup i love this concept its one of a kind

Haven't been on in a while. Like the top but really like the bug. Been traveling, doing some work in Colorado then I go to Dallas. Won't be home for the holidays kind of bummed. Then again, skiing for christmas!! Can't do that in SC
|
Welcome to Colorado.
Your here at the right time, its finally snowing.:-wink |
I am going to put in another vote for like! Its hard to tell from online pics, but it looks well done man. maybe some interior pics?
|
Work is kind of slow. It is ridiculously cold here. Wishing I could go ahead and go. Flight not until Monday then finally home to Charleston. My own home, my own bed, my own RANGER. Maybe I can find someone to do something in the Charleston area. Anyone on here no anyone? I am buying a F150 (it is a southern thing). I don't see many women driving F150 up north. I am going to scan the posts to see if I can find any other ranger customs. Bored. Don't have an appointment until early Friday morning.
|
I am buying a F150 (it is a southern thing). makes me think of the song by craig morgan....... more trucks than cars......
|
The interior is completely stock ranger xl.
I too have a f150. Can't have too many trucks. |
Have you done anything else to the Ranger
Long time since I have been on. Checking in to see if anything has changed on the roadster. I may have to move out West. My company wants me to live in my territory. I think I will need a 4 x 4 to live out there. Oh well, guess I will sell the trucks I have to get one. What happened to companies providing a company car/truck? Maybe I will get to see your Ranger, Twisted Metal.:-wink

Chop my Top
Ranger Roadster is sharp, but I was looking for a kit to give my B3000 a convertible top. I see that you have a sweet conversion shop that I can only dream of, but most of us have to work from a garage or driveway. I have seen many kits for S-10's, so I can't believe there's no kit for us.
