Crank sensor?:-huh

When you say "pickup coil" are you referring to the PIP inside the distributor?

trashman2500 10-07-2012 10:39 AM

yea replaced it got it at autozone

Do you have power going to the coil? Is the distributor turning when the engine cranks.

trashman2500 10-07-2012 11:59 AM

yea distributer is turning have power to the coil i have power going in but no power coming out for some reason and i have replaced everything

bashby 10-07-2012 12:12 PM

No power on coil negative would be an open coil, or do you mean no spark by "no power out"?

trashman2500 10-07-2012 12:16 PM

no power coming out of distributor have power going in but not out

We were talking coils... what do you mean?

trashman2500 10-07-2012 12:52 PM

i have spark from the coil to the distribitor i have no spark coming out of the distributor i have replaced the pickup coil inside the distributor coils new ingition modules new also put a new crank sensor plug wires cap roter button relays just gettin no spark out of the distribitor cap and dont know why

bashby 10-07-2012 01:30 PM

So you have spark coming out of the coil wire, but not out of the spark plug wires, right? That is either a weak spark that can't overcome the resistance of the ignition system (weak coil) or too much resistance in the rotor, wires, or cap. I've seen bad rotors before and the low end wires that the discount stores sell cause missfires and no starts. If you hold the coil wire close to ground, does it throw a nice blue spark? Slowly moving it away from ground, it should throw it 1/2" or more.

Just saw that... I use their parts a lot until it comes to ignition components. NAPA is worth the extra $$.

trashman2500 10-07-2012 02:17 PM

yes getting a nice blue spark out of coil wire just nothing coming out of the distribtor through the plug wires have power going to the crank sensor pickup coil and ignition module checked those with a test light

bashby 10-07-2012 02:27 PM

You dont have a crank sensor, I guess you mean pip, what ford callls the pickup coil in the dist.... as far as module and other primary ignition, there's no need to check that if your coil is making spark. Sounds like you got a defective cap or rotor. I guess it could be moisture inside the cap also, nothing got rained on did it?

trashman2500 10-07-2012 03:08 PM

nothing got rained on ill get a new cap and roter and try that
