Left Dodge for new F250
 

Last night I traded in my 2006 Ram 2500 4x4 Quad Cab hemi for a 2012 F250 Powerstroke FX4 Lariat with Ultimate Package, 20 inch wheels 3.55 rear end in triple black.

First let me state that my favorite truck was a 2006 F250 powerstroke that I had to sell for financial purposes. I loved that truck and never had an issue with it. My neighbor still drives it. However, when I got back into a truck I wanted a change of pace and went with the Dodge. With a 123k miles the truck went to the dealer ONE time for an A/C vent. It was a good solid truck.

Fast forward 6 years and truck "fever" hits. I researched the cummins web sites as well as this. I was a bit leery of the 6.7 and was leaning towards a Ram Cummins 2500 megacab. But 3 friends all with the 6.7 talked to me about their truck and the motor. In the end I got the Powerstroke and let me just say that the drive home last night was AMAZING. Those 3rd gen Rams are a "Flintstone" mobile compared to this truck!

Finally, I have read alot about mpg on both the cummins and this motor. From my research it seemed that cummins beat the fed emmissions early on by running the motor rich (no NOx) and relied on the DPF. THis hurt fuel economy and to some degree reliability. Ford went the other way tuning the engine lean and using DEF to reduce NOx with little soot (and regen). The result for Ford in my opinion is a phenominal package. Yes everybody knows of an issue here and there and particularly online you hear all the bitchin. But on the way home I totally reset the MPG, left the lot, drove an hour at 70mph got off the highway and drove 8 miles of city and my AVERAGE was 20.4 mpg. Lie o meter or not that's IMPRESSIVE compared to the lie o meter in my Ram Hemi which would show 10.5 mpg for the same trip.

Welcome to the cool club. Your gonna love it, it's a great truck. Don't let the minimal amount of problem threads on here worry you. Just enjoy the ride. I've had mine since July 16th and I've already put 16k on it. Love it.

Glad you are happy with the new truck, it is gorgeous. But wait till to pull something with it. Wow, they are awesome. My truck isn't one of the really pretty pickups, but I was after function this time. And boy am I happy, it pulls the 5th wheel effortlessly and returns great mileage. Comfortable seats, quiet cab, and a joy to drive, how can it get any better? Enjoy the new rig, and get used to seeing yourself smiling in the rearview mirror!!!
