Is there an F-350 which is not a Super Duty

My 2001 F-350 which I just bought is an XLT Super Duty, and every parts website and other website I go to discusses the "F-350 Super Duty." And my Ford guy says all F-350's are Super Duty.

But the other day at Advanced Auto Parts I was looking with the guy at the computer while searching for a part and on his computer there was a listing for F-350, and another for F-350 Super Duty, obviously implying there's a non-Super Duty version of the F-350, at least for 2001.

Really just for curiosity, but does anyone know the answer as to whether all F-350's are Super Duty, or is (were) there F-350's which were not also designated as Super Duty trucks?

there was an option of heavy duty at that time. when i did brakes on my 99, i got the wrong ones cause i didn't know there was a regular f250 and f250 super duty. they stopped doing that but ive never heard of an f350 that wasn't a super duty

For 1999+ .. no they are all superduty. 250-750 all carry the SUPERDUTY name. The reason the parts guy had two options is because when a part gets entered for compatibility some manufactures list "F-250" some list "F-250 SuperDuty".

You will find this all over. I have even seen "7.3L Diesel" "444ci diesel" in the same drop down box. Its just a categorization issue.

However, Pre 1999 there were some oddities. For example, you will NOT find a model year 1998 F350. They dont exist. Neither does a model year 1998 F250 SuperDuty. But you CAN find a model year 1998 F250. AH. See what happened? The 1998 F250 does NOT carry the Superduty name, or looks of the 97 or 99 trucks, instead it looks like a 98 F150. During this time ford stopped production of 3/4+ ton trucks to convert over to the new SUPERDUTY production lines, but did take these F150 converts and beef them up a little.

OBS trucks were SuperDuty, except some F350+ had a SuperDuty badge.

The f450 in its previous life was called the f-superduty.

Unless your truck is pre 1999, or looks like a f150. You have a super duty.

The f250 that had the f150 body was eventually renamed the 7700 package.

It still lives on in the heavy duty f150 package you can get that gets you a iirc 8200gvwr and 7 lug wheels.

Ford had a long history of making light duty f250's for quite sometime going back to the 80's. Only seen a few but they do exist.

and to confuse things even more, from 87 to 97 ford made a 2 ton truck called the superduty. it had 10 lug wheels, and was only available as a 2 wheel drive cab chassis from the factory.
