Kickdown Linkage

Hey guys, I was wondering if somebody could give me a quick rundown on the purpose and function of the kickdown linkage on a C6 transmission. My old C6 had it, my new C6 did not. I still have half of the linkage from my old C6, and I'm wondering If I need to run the kickdown linkage with my 400, if they even came with kick down linkage.

Thanks! :)

The linkage does what the name implies - kicks it down a gear with heavy throttle. You do not have to have that linkage, but you won't get the full-throttle downshift you'll want. The linkage was pretty standard and I have some if you want, but the carb has to have provisions for it. On an E'brock that's extra as they don't come that way unless requested.

I'll really have to think it over. Truth be told, I'll probably go without it for now, and if I end up wanting it, I can always add it later.

Thanks Gary!

I personally wouldn't try to run without it but I guess it's not absolutely critical, it just won't behave as well.

When adjusted correctly the linkage only moves in the last little bit of throttle travel.

Biggest reason I ask is because I still have the transmission side of the linkage from my old 300/C6 setup.

But that linkage runs to the passenger side of the trans, since the intake on a 300 is on the passenger side, and that's where the carburetor sat. I'm not even sure if the linkage I have would work with a 400.
