Body Removal
I am doing a Lincoln Make 8 IRS swap on my 62. I could do it with the body on but it would suck. What is the best way to remove the body with jack stands and a jack? I need to get the frame out from under it bacuse i dont think i can get the body high enough. Thanks for the help, Matt

what I did when I took my frame out was jack it up as high as you can get it put the frame on jack stands unbolt the body and wheels and don't forget the e brake cables and steering box the unbolt the body from the frame jack it back up off the stands and put stands under the door area with a block of wood tand I used the splash pan on the back I used blocks of wood then lower chassis take the wheels off I left the drums on with a couple lug nuts to stop them from falling off and it rolled right out no biggie .

I Used a similar method to roll the frame out from under the chassis. I used two floor jacks to roll the chassis.
Here are some shots of the front supports i made to be able to roll the body around with a single floor jack at the rear. http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps66c33766.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps7c110d82.jpg Garbz. |

Simple 3/8 all thread with washers and nuts through the upper fender bolt hole and lower bolt hole. 3x1 tubing welded in to a tee and with spacers to the cowl and lower mount.
The wheels are from ? i had them laying around. I used solid stock for the axles with a cotter and washer to hold it on. http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps6d0e9612.jpg Here is from the front. These are all i have salvaged off an old drive. Garbz |

Did you ever get it installed?
Did you use the kit or just make the mounts yourself? I have been interested in the swap myself. Thanks, Steven |
I got the body off by drilling out the body bolts from the top, removing the rear end and springs, jacking up the truck and sitting the body on 5 jackstands. I ripped 2 2x4s down to 2.5 inches, i put those in a groove under the body that goes from the front of the cab to the front of the bed. I put jackstands on those boards at the front of the cab and the rear of the cab on bother sides. I put the 5 jackstand at the back of the body where it drops down just below the liscense plate.
I did get the rear in tacked in and put the frame back under the body to make sure it looks right with the wheels on it. It looks good so i will pull the frame back out and burn it all in and paint the rest of the frame. I did buy the kit. Not to take anything from Dave but the pieces in the kiat are simply but it saved me time figuring it out and making the brackets myself. YOu also buy the support when you buy the kit. I called Dave a couple times and he is very helpful. Matt |
Do you have any pictures?
Im in oklahoma where are you located? I c'd the back of my frame and put the rear ontop of the springs. I dont think they had the kit out when I did mine. |
