A resistor on the IAT sensor?

I have noticed a lot of things on the web on modules that promise increased MPG and power by adding a resistor on the IAT sensor. As much as I like the idea of increased MPG and power for cheap, if it doesn't work, I don't want to waste my time.

So, what is the consensus on this type of modification? Will this mod be effective or only be a wase of time?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Waste of time.

The resistor gimmick has been around for years. It just fools the PCM into thinking the air is a different temperature so it operates the fueling system richer or leaner.

It cannot both increase power (which takes more fuel) and save fuel (which reduces power).

A customized tuner package can allow you to select which attribute you want.

If you have an older vehicle which won't accept a tuner adding a resistor may throw the cel light. You will get better mileage by inflating your tires to max inflation for load on your tire ratings.
