Engine stalls warm
 

Hey guys,
I'm new here in this forum. I live in Munich, Germany and West Palm Beach, FL.. Old US-Cars are my big passion!
I vew weeks ago I bought myself a '72 Ford F-100 Explorer for Florida. But now I have a little problem with this truck: whenever the engine is warm it stalls - cold there is no problem.
I would appreciate any help from this forum

I'm guessing the fact the high idle/choke is on when cold that it stays running. Once it kicks off is when it starts to stall?

Likely you need to set your mixture screws on the front of the carb(assuming it still has stock Autolite 2bbl).

How is the rest of the tune up? Plugs, wires, cap, points, etc?
Can you hold the throttle a touch and keep it running?

This is the tune up I've done: new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, points, and condenser all replaced and carburator rebuilt.

Points set properly? Dwell meter 28-32 or rougly .020 gap.

Carb set properly? About 1 1/2 turns out for the mixture screws initially. Once truck is warm, set idle speed. Then turn screws in slowly til idle starts to drops down. Turn back about 1/4 turn. Do each screw separately. Both screws should be about the same turns out when done. This can also be down with vacuum gauge. Set til get highest vacuum reading.

Hi guys, want to post my successfull repair: I have twice opened the carburetor (because of flooding problems) and have removed again very small metal parts, I install an additional filter, very close to the carb. and finally everything was ok. I suppose that caused by the Ethanol-Gasoline, that is dissolves the coating of the metal from the fuel line slightly.
