Mark I like your new 8x19.5's, they have an old school working 4X4 style look to them. They must be a little easier to push around the streets and parking lots, using it as your driver. What diameter is the new set.

Mark and I worked a swap. His bare set of the optional 19.5" x 5.25" Budd #71410s and some cash in exchange for my set with studded Cooper Courser 8-19.5" tractions. It looks "right" now, Mark. Glad they came along, and glad you could use the studded tires. If I'd have hung onto them I'd have been trying to pull studs, since I don't have a 12 y.o. assistant.

The 8-19.5" bias ply tires are 34" diameter. Stu

Stu; thanks for the info. At 34" they are a great match for the original 4.56 gears.
My truck came with the 17.5 tubeless type rims. However in my youthful ignorance about 30+ years ago I did away with them. Whats the chances of finding five more original style 17.5's now days.

The 17.5s will be a shorter tire, more like 32". I have a set of four in the FTE classifieds, and have seen a good number in yards in past months. I'd think they should be available in your NV yards. Stu

thanks for all the nice comments. it really does take on a totally different look with the 19.5s. more work and less play. steers alot easier and now im listening to the studs clicking on the pavement instead of the howl with the boggers. at 34 in. they still seem a little short with the 456 gears. with the 38.5s and the gps so i could tell what my speed was 65 or 70 was pretty easy on the interstate. ran out of motor and stones more than anything. with the 19.5s i can tell those speeds wont be happening. i will run them this winter just so i can play if we get some freezing rain, then will probably put the boggers back on in the spring for better interstate cruising.

with a modifed 20" rim you could run 750 or 825 x 20's. Just weld an 8 lug center into a set of old 20" truck rims. They're everywhere. Whats the worst that could happen? }>

Locally? Not these. Found them in north central Oregon. Fortunately my son travels out that far from Portland with his job and picked them up for me. Next we drove out from Illinois for the grand son's birthday, hauling the piano our son had stored at our place, then loaded wheels and tires after unloading a piano. After a good visit we headed home taking a northern route so that we passed through Sioux Falls allowing Mark and me to meet up to make the swap. Logistics. Stu
