Crossmember Needed

I’m new to the forum, I recently bought a 57 F100 Styleside (short bed), 272 with a 3 speed and I need the rear engine/transmission cross member. The PO had planned to put in a 351 with a C6 and hacked off the rear engine/transmission cross member. This conversion seems pretty common so I’m hoping that somebody has this is sitting in their garage. Also, is this the same crossmember used in the 55-56 F100’s ?

Sorry, I hacked mine out too for my diesel and ch*** transmission :-X04 gasp.. Welcome to the fridge club, where all the orphans hang out. Good to see a Seattle member. What area? See if you can get some photos up. Also we always need as much info as possible about your truck. We're not sure why, we just like these trucks and need the info. Thanks and good luck.

I can't remember if I removed mine yet or not but what pieces I did remove I drilled out the rivets, it is a 4 speed, not sure if 4 and 3 speed is the same. I'll take a look next time I get over there, not sure exactly where it might be.

I have one here that I used a saws-all to cut out right at the frame rails. I tried to remove it by the rivets but no way was I getting it out. If your interested PM me your email I'll send pics so you can determine if will work for you. That's if hotfalcoon does not come though, I do not want to cut the line. Make me an offer, it's heavy.. The truck had a 3 speed Overdrive originally.

Good luck in your quest!

Disregard its the isolator not the cross member. Sorry its late and i'm tired.

Thank, I just got a crossmember last Friday and now the fun part of getting out the old rivets. Any easy suggestions?

willowbilly3 09-18-2012 12:29 PM

Nothing easy about removing Ford rivets. Get the rivet head off one side, torch or grind, then heat the rivet red hot and drive it out with a punch

nicks_57 09-18-2012 01:50 PM

Thanks, I did grind off the heads and then tried to drive them out with a punch and big hammer but no luck. I ended up drilling 2 of the rivets out but 6 more to go. If heating the rivet is easier, I'll try that.

Not just heat, cherry red so they are soft.
