1969 ford, restoration.
 

K guys, here goes. First ruck I bought with my own money, a 1969 ford F100 custom cab stepside. It had a 6 cylinder in it when I bought it and ran great. I enlisted in the airforce and had to leave it in a garage, 8 years later it comes out of the garage, 6 cylinder comes out and 302/351 goes in....not sure which motor it is yet I haven't measured to see for sure yet. I regret that, 6 cylinder ran perfectly the v8 does not :-X18, sold the 6 cyl, no going back:-arrgh.....Anyway rebuilt the carburetor (another thread) lost a bolt and had it flooding out EVERY hole, took it apart and found it to be the floats and needles.

NOW to the present. Yesterday I took it for a drive seems that I can't get its timing right it idles too fast, when I turn the throttle down it wants to die, also wants to die when it is in drive and the RPM's get to low....any ideas? I thought maybe the timing?:-huh

BUT when I got back there was antifreeze all over the bottom of the motor and frame :'(. I can't win lol.

Turns out it was leaking around the water pump took ALL the pullys off and water pump off and sealed the water pump. BUT while removing the alternator bracket guess what........yep the bracket broke :-arrgh and they don't make it anymore (part number: d7ue-10a336-aa) found out they supposedly renamed that part, part number: e1az-10a336-a.

So I am now looking for that bracket so I can put the pullys back on to get BACK to adjusting the throttle and timing lol, cars are so much fun. Whoever had the v8 before me rigged up some bolts and spacers to make a aftermarket serpentine belt system work on the motor and it does for the most part so I am going next week to get all new bolts at the local hardware store that are correct in length and hopefully I will have the bracket found by then also and I can get back to trying to figure out why the truck dies at low RPMs. Updates next week when I get the parts.
