Seat Belts Working??

Hi

I just picked up a 1989 F-150 XLT/Lariet. The shoulder belts do not seem to catch.

On other cars you can usually grab a shoulder belt and yank it forward (as in the direction your body would go in a front end crash) and it will catch. Mine do not do this. I can make the belt hit some kind of endpoint by adjusting the lap belt but then fit is way off.

Is there an adjustment? Has anyone ever replaced these?
I am considering replacing them because the webbing is frayed.

Is this a tough job? Will later model seatbelts (normal cab) up to 1995 fit this?

Thanks
Don

Ford truck reels use a pendulum that only locks the reel in impact or tilt. If you have a thick black plastic plunger in the door jamb near the reel, you need to look for that on the replacement. If you don't have that, go with the older style. All '80-96 F-Series & Bronco front shoulder belts are the same, except for that plunger on later ones. All you need to remove/install them is a phillips screwdriver and a T-50 bit.

Finding a seat belt

I have a 95 F-150 and need a driver side seat belt. Do the universal ones fit? Does anyone know of a source for a replacement?

Jeff's Bronco Graveyard will probably have seatbelt replacements, check them out.

Thanks Encho. I had no idea something as simple as a seatbelt would be so hard to find.
