dana 44.. gear help..
 

So i blew up my front rear and purchased a new one... it is a 1979 dana 44 out of a f150. it has 3.50 gears... i want to swap in 4.88 gears and posi...

so my reading has told me i need a 4.88 thick cut gear. is this correct.
also on the posi unit does it matter what it came out of? how many spline axles should it be 30 correct?

also will be doing my ford 9" 31 spline 4.86 gears and a detriot locker.. for my street truck..

IIRC, D44s have a gear split at 3.92 so you'll have to find a different axle.

I think you can just get thick 4.88 gears to fit the 3.73 carrier and down...
Maybe I'm wrong...
