Under the hood there's no difference between a -250 and a -350, so I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
Personally, I think the only reason Ford doesn't offer a more powerful OEM 6.2 is because it would suck sales numbers away from their diesel. The diesel is an $8,000 option alone and to lose some of that money on the table would never be good. -Gator |
so whats this thing cost? I did not see a price on the site.....
If its under $8k then it really is something to look at....the 6.7 option is over $8k..... Plus we all know the 6.7 is a ton of maintenance......super charging the 6.2 would give you a large boost in tq....this thing is making 450 foot pounds at 2500 rpm!!!! and it stays nice and flat all the way up....that is very useable tq! Plus from the specs you can run on 91 oct and those numbers were only 8.8psi which is not much at all....I would suspect it would live as long as a stocker if it were driven normal....now I say that because if you were driving with the skinny pedal to the floor every time you got in it you may see some failure of items prematurely. I would like to see some time with these things on other SD's to see how they hold up........I may consider this in a few years....it also greatly depands on what Ford does with the 6.2......I am waiting to see if the direct inject it. |

I don't remember if it was the Whipple setup but I remember seeing a price for a supercharger setup for the Super Duties priced at around $6,500 a few months ago. Cheaper than the diesel option.

If they could make this kit for the
$5k price with everything you need I would probably be all over it......even $6k I would still be on it. Yes its cheaper than the 6.7 up front costs and in maintenance! |

I was on board with it and ready to pull the trigger, but went with a dirt bike instead. Gets much better mpg's than a SC'ed 6.2 would. ha ha. You get those bags installed yet? :-X22 |

This is gonna increase the tong weight of my trailer even more so the bags are going to be much needed!:-X06 |
Wow, this got me excited on a Thursday morning. I don't own a 6.2 but my next truck (a few years down the road) will very likely be a 6.2 super duty. Very nice to know that this option exists.
I have zero experience with super chargers. For those who do, what sort of mileage impact would result from adding one? Both unladen cruising speed and towing/haulin? |
I just heard back from Whipple. The kit is 50 State legal and parts, labor & tax is $9600.

$9,600!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
That's a bit ridiculous.......did you get a price for the kit only? I would not pay for that I would do it myself. |

I definitely won't be getting rid of my 5.4 SD any time soon but when I'm ready to add another beast to the stable it won't be a diesel. It's nice to see some aftermarket support for this motor.
