carb shot/need one
 

Hey guys, who sells the best carb for the 223? mine's shot, not sure I want to chance a rebuild by a stranger thanks for looking

What do mean by shot? Wore out around the shafts? Casting broke? etc...

They are not that hard to rebuild. My NAPA guy ordered a kit for me but I am sure you could find them other places. Just go slow and take pics as you tear it apart. Lay your parts out in order and you will be surprised how easy it really is!

Haven't used this kit personally, as I said mine was from NAPA, so it was an Echlin brand.

It appears this is a Walker brand kit and it is also available on Amazon.

You might save a few bucks on shipping if you get it there but I haven't really looked around to find the cheapest price, you may find it for less!

if you dont know anybody that rebuilds carbs ask around at the parts store, car shows or at the race track. they will tell you who to go to and who to stay away from. good luck. i just had two rebuilt by a trusted friend and it was a pita. had it been a stranger i would have thought he was shafting me.

Thanks again for the info guys, very helpful- I tore mine down, soaked it in carb cleaner, still no improvement- it'll run great for 3 min, then cough and quit- I'll check the ebay info, and Napa- thanks

if it runs great for three min. then coughs and dies i would look around before i bought a carb. check the tank, pump, fuel lines and any filters. bad gas? i would think if it was the carb it wouldnt run good at all.
