At a minimum I'm surprised that AC even made any parts for Ford vehicles at all. It looks vintage to me, so for now I'll stick with it.
Saginaw P/S pumps used on 1975/91 Econolines and 1972/78 Passenger Cars with Hydro-Boost. Ford/Saginaw integral P/S introduced in 1965 Passenger Cars, 1969 F100/350's, used into the 1990's on trucks, Rangers and etc. Used thru 2002 in Crown Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis. I know you edit posts at times. So the C5AZ-6A666-A was used in a 289? You originally posted no, but then I think that was updated to include 289.
You have 43,666 posts. Me 66 and we are talking about 6A666. That's a lot of sixes. |

Ya, that guy on the SAAC forum might have accidentally added the number 1 to the end of the part number by mistake. If that's the case then the rest of his info sounds legit. I've also read over there that the judges at the Shelby shows will accept either the Autolite or the AC as original. Hard to know what to believe, but it's OK as it's just a hobby for me.

It's not the original, because AC is a division of General Motors. :( The original would have been an Auto-Lite, which back then was owned by FoMoCo.
C5AZ-6A666-A (Auto-Lite EV-6) replaced by DOAZ-6A666-A (Motorcraft EV-50). 1972: FoMoCo was forced by the US Gov't to sell Auto-Lite, because the gov't claimed FoMoCo had a monopoly on auto parts. FoMoCo then came out with in-house brand Motorcraft. All the Auto-Lite part numbers became Motorcraft part numbers. After Albert Champion sold his company to General Motors, he started a new company: Champion Spark Plugs. |
Nice! You have good taste in parts...;) All the good bits.
Anyone have a picture of the elusive EV-6? The illustration shows what looks like a hex section in the middle of the valve. Did some work on the thermostat housing. Some pitting where the hose attaches, but not bad. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...DC9C30B4D5.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...DCB711DDA6.jpg Little FoMoCo logo down in there. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...DCCDC17C3F.jpg Here's a picture of the engine tag taken by CS65 when he was over. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...13BE5F5405.jpg Started to paint some of the pieces. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...13B727A5BD.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...139A6CFD6B.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...13B00E280E.jpg |
Underhood, each of the wiring harnesses still has it's paper tag attached. And legible.
Engine harness http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...16654CC677.jpg Lighting harness http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...1670D69F51.jpg Alternator harness http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...167BB1BB95.jpg So far I've located a perfect NOS lighting harness and nearly correct NOS engine harness from a fellow member and a NOS taillight harness from Wesleys. Stunned to find the last one because I really needed it as they had tapped into the original for trailer lights and it's missing some of its cloth wrapping in a couple of spots. |
Damn Chad, that truck is like a time capsule! You are doing some great work there. Keep it up...
|
Thanks Chris. I'm having a blast so far.
Called about this truck today. It's sitting on a '72 frame with a 390 engine. Looks like a good project. 66 Ford F250 |
That's been on there a while.

Not too surprising. He sounded motivated, too. How are things in Montana? :-wink
The old lenses on my truck had some wiring for the camper lights sticking out the bottom edge. One had cracked and they were slightly warped from the excess heat. They say "TRST 57B" then a "FoMoCo" logo on the top edge "SAE-TSB" and a small "703-H" near the bottom edge. I wanted to find the same info so went NOS. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...18E885CBA3.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...18F1FC14B3.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...18F9DF9E4A.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...1901997270.jpg The old reflectors would be harder to clean up than to get NOS ones of those, too. You can see the theme here. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...0ECB66F720.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...0EC09398C1.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...0ED28FE45C.jpg |
I realized I had never posted my warranty plate info.

I believe it is for the second oil change. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...AF139203A8.jpg On the door jamb opposite of the warranty plate are these two stickers with handwritten dates of 10-19-70 and 6-29-72. I believe there's just one oil change between the two at just over 3,000 miles. The station changed from a Richfield to an Arco (Atlantic Richfield) in the year and a half timespan. Note the phone number goes from NO2-5870 to 662-5870. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...AF1BCFF9B3.jpg In the glovebox is the old window scrapper from the same gas station. Notice the phone number format. Sort of dates the window scrapper. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B2B175DD9B.jpg There are other stickers, too. Some are illegible. There is one from the first oil change, too. It's got a bit of paint spray on it, but I'll see if I can get a good shot of it. |
I've not seen a filler neck grommet quite as bad as this.
http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B60010C557.jpg I believe it was leading to problems down toward the bottom of the door, but nothing too serious yet. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B606D44F54.jpg But, it led them to do a little touchup along the way that hit this sticker July 10, 1966 handwritten. Says "No Filter". I think this is from the first oil change. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B60EE8B448.jpg The sticker below it is pretty messed up, but is from the same "Richfield" station as the above post, so pre-1972 I'd guess. Gas tank seems nice. I need to clean it up a little more still under the seat. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B7444B278E.jpg Both seat belts are marked 1-66 with the FoMoCo logo on the female portion. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B74E563C5A.jpg http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B756C7D056.jpg Male portion. I believe it's all original. None of the webbing or anything has been replaced. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...B75E72E06F.jpg Seat is in very nice condition |
when you clean under back of seat ck out fuel tank brackets for rust

Take a look with me. I don't see any majors issues.
Driver's side http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...5EB48EF594.jpg Passenger's side http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...5EBC874741.jpg Under the seat is mostly just dust. I'm going to pull the seat so I can clean it good when I do it. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...5EC582231C.jpg |
