I do need to give it a good bath and polish. Last night I was removing some bees nests in the two rearmost stake pockets (safe spot with the camper on) and found one of these was still active! Zapped 'em and need to follow up today.
I've got a stack of paperwork I'm going through and was shocked to find the invoice above. Here's the build sheet. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...BuildSheet.jpg |

Nope. 1965 F100/250 4WD, 1966 F250 4WD, 1965/66 F350/1100 Custom Cabs have a round speedo with a chrome steel instrument cluster. 1966 F100 4WD has coil spring front suspension, uses the same cab and Styleside Bed as 1965/66 F100/250 2WD. :-hijackedYou sent me a P/M, but I cannot answer it, as FTE says you've chosen not to receive them. I sent you an email instead. |

CS65,
"You've got mail" Oh, wait, that is aol, wrong provider... |
My front differential tag looks like this. Make sense to anyone? I assume the 4.55 is the ratio, correct? The rest? Can you tell if it a Dana 44 '3M' or '3.5M'? Thanks.

C6TA-BA = Dana 44-6F Front Driving Axle / 4.55-1 / 3,000 lb. Front Axle Capacity / Rear () axle parts list #138 / Front driving axle parts lists were listed in the rear axle parts lists thru 1972.

NumberDummy mentions a "platform & rack", or stake bed. My '66 F350 Flatbed looks like it came from the factory with such a bed. The sideboards are original & in terrible shape, but most of the hardware is there & in great shape. Is there a source for that hardware? I have heard that the original supplier might have been Knapheide. Got any ideas?

Awesome! So that ties in nicely with this info you've posted in the past. So the 6F is the '3M' front axle and the 6FH/D is the '3.5M'. So for a Warn hub I need the M167, or at least that is one of the options that will work. I wonder what all years they made a Warn M167?
My truck came with free running hubs from the factory, and they might be what is on the truck now (I won't toss them). But, I don't like them and when I take this thing on the Rubicon next month I don't want any problems... Snip: ---------------------------------------------------------- From Bill: While these are WARN hubs, Ford offered them as an optional accessory available either factory installed or at the parts counter. COTZ1104A .. WARN Hub-Free Running-Manual Locking. Fits: 1959/65 F100/250 4WD w/3M Front Axle. Additional WARN Hubs: C6TZ1104B .. WARN Hub-Free Running-Manual Locking / Models: M167; M185. Fits: 1966/72 F100/250 4WD w/3M Front Axle. C6TZ1104F .. WARN Hub-Free Running-Lock-o-Matic / Model M175. Fits: 1966/72 F100/250 4WD w/3M Front Axle. C9TZ1104B .. WARN Hub-Free Running-Manual Locking / Models: M166; M197. Fits: 1967/72 F250 4WD w/3.5M Front Axle. ------------------------------------ 1961/66 F100/250 4WD. Ford offered two different Dana Front Axles: Dana 44-6F (3M) With or Without Free Running Hubs. Dana 44-6FH/D (3.5M) With or Without Free Running Hubs. <!-- / message --> |

I'm sure I'm not able to make as much sense out of that as you can, but I'll try to digest it.
I'm not necessarily looking for the Ford flavor of the Warn M167, any Warn M167 hubs should be fine for me. You've confirmed that my axle should be the 6F which takes the M167 hubs. I just want something from the proper era rather than buying brand new Warn hubs. Probably a silly notion. The search begins. |
"factory" stake bed

I'm personally not deep enough in to know yet, but hopefully others will chime in.
I did call Van Cleve Ford and if I drive down there and meet their owner Jim Van Cleve, Jr. he'll give me some more background on the dealership and I hope to get some license plate frames. They won't be vintage, but something fun to tie things together. |
I had a pair of Van Cleve metal originals, sold them (and my entire collection of vintage license plate frames [no plastic!]) to a fellow collector in Glendora CA two years ago.
He sells frames at the Pomona swap meet and on ebay. |
Looks like a pretty dang nice truck to me!

Thanks AZParts
Mirrors needed work, at least. Very rusty. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32D1BA1BBF.jpg Mounting bracket http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32D7C70C96.jpg Reverse side http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32DB3D8B43.jpg Pulled the rubbers off from around the edges. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32D4C0554C.jpg Then the mirrors fell out. There's some thin white foam material behind. I've seen this stuff at packing supply stores. http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32DED02ADB.jpg Corrosion http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32E2074F1C.jpg More corrosion http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32E4F80A65.jpg After a quick trip through the blast cabinet http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...32EB95A0BD.jpg I'll need to work on the bottom edges some. Wish I'd been in time to get some Van Cleve frames. I'll keep looking... .. |
